How To Animate In Maya

should i learn blender or maya? maya costs more. how much more? it is around 6k, though you can find freetrials. there are student versions, too, that are cheaper.

How To Animate In Maya, why would anyone pay that much for the software? maya and 3dsmax are industry standards. ifyou want to get a job as an animator or artist with a big company, you need to learn maya. but i can afford to get blender.

and that would work for a lot of freelancework. let's say i could afford it. which shouldi try? blender comes with a lot of modelling toolsand modifiers. blender is a good choice if you're working on animation. i might do animation or just 3d models. i'lldo whatever pays me enough to be worth the effort, but i need to get into the marketsooner. maya has a steeper learning curve. it's easierif you have some understanding of object oriented programming. if i could program, i'd be doing that already.

maya allows you to do high end work becauseit can work with almost anything. maya supports the 3delight plug-in with built-in stereoscopics, and it plays well with toonboom harmony. given the price tag, it should. it sounds like the price is throwing you fora loop. maya is mostly used for film and animation, practically an industry standard. i'd like to try to use it, but i might not get goodenough with trial versions to get a job. blender's user interface takes a while tolearn. so even with blender, it isn't like you can master it in a weekend. blender isn't good for detailed 3d animation, which pays well for the work. i might have

to import skeletal meshes from sculptris,so i'd have to learn that one. here's an answer for you: you don't have tobuy a mac to use blender. then it sounds like i have to start with blenderor else my budget will get run through the ringer.
