How To Access Icloud On Android, in this video, i'll show you how to sync calendars and contacts between a pc running mozilla thunderbird and an android-smartphone. download and install generalsync on your pc to get started.

while this demonstration is for windows, generalsync is available for all major operating systems. in the first run dialog, confirm the installation of the thunderbird add-on and choose a name for your pc. this name will be displayed on devices connected to it. depending on the operating system, you may need to permit generalsync to access your network as well. start thunderbird,

confirm the installation of the generalsync add‑on and perform the required restart. you can now create your first shared calendar: right-click in the calendar list, choose “new calendar...” and select the option “decentralized via generalsync”. you'll be prompted to select a calendar to add. choose the “plus” button to create a new one, and enter its name.

for this demonstration, i'll also add an event to transfer to the smartphone. note that events in existing calendars will not get synced. to share the newly created calendar with another device, double-click on the generalsync-icon in the system tray. the dashboard is shown, where you can manage all sync relations. switch to the “devices” tab and use the “plus” button to open the pairing dialog.

to complete the process, you need to enter a code generated on the smartphone. make sure the smartphone is connected to the same network and install generalsync on the smartphone as well. similar to the setup on pc, you can select the device's name on the first start of the app. to generate a pair code, switch to “devices” and select the “plus” button from the action bar.

enter the displayed code on the pc and confirm the dialog. once the pairing is established, you can easily add new sync relations between the devices: switch to the “content” tab, select the calendar to sync and click on the “plus” button. you'll then be able to choose a synchronization mode and the device to sync with.

a notification about the new sync relation will get displayed on the smartphone. touch that notification. you need to confirm the sync relation before any data is exchanged. on android, you can then immediately access the calendar using your preferred calendar app. modifications will be automatically synced back to the pc,

albeit with a short delay due to android's power saving features. next up, we'll add an address book to sync. switch back to generalsync's main screen and touch the “plus” button in the “content” tab. select “address book” and enter a name to complete the process. to sync the new address book, touch its row

and then the device to sync with. choose a synchronization mode and confirm the dialog to initiate the new sync relation. the relation also has to be confirmed on the pc. click on the notification shown on the generalsync tray icon, and accept the dialog to establish the new sync relation. in order to access the address book from thunderbird, open the address book window.

select “file”… …“new”… …“generalsync address book...” and choose the newly created address book. you can now add contacts to sync them onto the smartphone. that's it: generalsync will now automatically sync your data while your devices are connected to the same network.
