petco is hoping animal lovers will hop over to the rabbit adoption this weekend. we are live with the bunnies that need love.
How To Adopt A Baby Rabbit, reporter: this will be a fun and great event for these little bunnies, and these are called "buns." this is snoopy
and midnight, and these are a few of the bunnies that are ready for adoption. the organization that is taking care of this, "friends of unwanted rabbits." you know i love cats and dogs, and i've been talking with lisa, and i'm thinking i might need a
bunny in my future. my house will be a zoo. that is what you need, everybody needs a rabbit. reporter: and you have always been a lover of rabbits. they are kind and sensitive creatures. they make wonderful pets.
they are the smoothest animals and they make great house pets. they love people and people normally love them, and they are much easier to handle than a dog or a cat. i guess this should not be surprising but people get the bunnies, and then they give
them away, and this has happened quite a bit. and you found this bunny, oloff. he was let loose or got loose in the northern area, and he came in contact with the snow and part of his ear froze off with frostbite. he has been to the doctor twice
and return twice, and the first time they did not have time for him, and the second time they were not accustomed to rabbits. he is back here and he is very sweet, and he is available. he is a fantastic rabbit, about 2 to 3 years old, and all of our rabbits are spayed or
neutered, no reproduction issues with these rabbits. he is a great rabbit, and all of these rabbits are wonderful. reporter: we were talking about that a lot of these, sometimes rabbits get adopted because it is easter. that is not the way to bring a
pet into the home. it is not. normally they get bought for the child and the child will lose interest in a few weeks, and the parents don't want the extra responsibility of taking care of the rabbits a lot of times they will call us to come
and get them. and many times the breeder has too many rabbits that did not sell, and they will let them loose, or people lose them or let them loose. they are prone to predators, and they end up being killed. it is important that if you
cannot keep the rabbit, take it to the animal shelter and surrender it. you can also call the rescue. reporter: and now you know who to contact in case something like this happens, and these people will be here in folsom helping you guys, and they will
have about 20 rabbits. if you want to see who you could potentially adopt, go to the website as well, and they have everything along with many services or if you have your own rabbit you want to bring by, so check this out this weekend on saturday and sunday
