How To Address A Letter To Queens Ny, injury trial lawyer practicing law in thestate of new york. this happened to a number of my clients. this is a very prominent hospitalin new york city. in this instance, my client's spouse died at this particular hospital andfirmly believed that the hospital violated the basic standards of medical care, causingand contributing to the injuries that ultimately
led to his spouse's death. and now, he goeshome, gets a letter in the mail from this hospital and asks if he would gladly contributeto a fundraising opportunity to raise money for this hospital. how angry do you thinkhe was? that prompted him to pick up the phone and call me. “gerry, you're never goingto believe what just happened.†i said, “hold on. let me tell you what just happened.â€and now i preceded to tell him exactly what occurred. the hospital had sent the fundraisingletter to him, asking him to now contribute money to the hospital for their fundraisingefforts. and he was furious. he was so upset and so angry. why? because he truly believed, and our experts confirmed, that there was a valid basis for a case, that as a resultof the doctor's carelessness at the hospital,
his spouse died as a direct result of that.do you think he wrote out a check to this hospital? absolutely not. you know what hedid? he immediately tore that up. but more than that, it prompted me to write a letterto that fundraising department telling them, “listen, i just want you to be aware. youjust sent a letter to a gentleman whose spouse died as a direct result of carelessness byyour hospital. this was insensitive. this was offensive. this is wrong on so many differentlevels. make sure you take his name off of your mailing list.†and that's exactly whatthey did. in fact, they actually apologized for doing that. what was so remarkable thoughwas that this was not the first time that this hospital had done that. the fundraisingarm of the hospital had nothing to do with,
and knew nothing about, what went on medically.instead, they simply got a list of patients who had been discharged and now automaticallysent out these letters to these patients who were discharged, not even recognizing thatthe patient who was discharged, clearly was not discharged. in fact, they died in thehospital. so why do i share this great information with you? i share it with you just to expresswhat one client, actually multiple clients of mine, had gone through when they receivedthis fundraising letter from the hospital where their spouse died as a direct resultof carelessness by a doctor at the hospital. you know, i realize you're watching this becauseyou have questions or concerns about your own particular matter. well, if your matterdid happen here in the state of new york and
