accident happened here on 35th. the family is saying this is a case of an active two-year-old who got loose for a couple of seconds when tragedy struck. family members too overwhelmed to speak tonight about the tragedy that took two- year-old jeremiah esera's life. the


little boy was with his mother, visiting relatives at this apartment complex near 35th avenue and penniman in oakland. he was playing outside just before two this afternoon when his aunt says he suddenly darted into the street to chase


a ball...directly in the path of this ac transit bus. marco marquez/opd spokesman this is a tragic, sad loss for the family and for the community and officers and first responders on scene were heartbroken. family members were so devastated that they would not speak on camera.

natsot the bus was towed away hours after the crash. police say it's still unclear who is at fault. ac transit says cameras were mounted on the front, sides and back of the coach. this operator is absolutely devastated by this event.


ac transit spokesman robert lyles says protocol dictates that the driver will be tested for drugs and alcohol. the bus will also be checked. they will take the coach away. they will test all its mechanical functions, ensuring that the brakes worked properly, that the
