How To Adopt A Kenyan Child

rahab karanja kilimo salama kenya. you can see me so the risk of crop failure is a reality, sorry can we start again? so the risk of crop failure from unreliable weather is a reality for most parts of africa. i'm sorry just a minute.

How To Adopt A Kenyan Child, i hope you're not counting. okay so the risk of crop failure from unreliable weather is a reality for most parts of africa. there are over 3.5 million families in kenya alone who rely on rain fed agriculture. kilimo salama means safe agriculture in swahili.

we do, sorry we are the first agricultural micro insurance program. to do, to reach out to smaller farmers using mobile technologies. my name is rahab, sorry i'm rambling a lot. but i'm a program manager at kilimo salama we were founded in 2009 incubated by a swiss foundation called sinjeta foundation for sustainable agriculture. and a kenyan company uap insurance. we insure farmers against drought and excess rainfall. we have been able together as a joint venture to develop and launch micro insurance products targeting that target market

we launched in 2009 and we have been able in the last four years to prove that the model works. we have a desert base or a client base of over 64,000 farmers. to this year and we are now currently trying or expanding to other east african countries starting with rawanda. so we aim to establish ourselves as a standard in the micro insurance agricultural sector. thank you, in africa thank you.
