reporter: olivia is enjoying quiet time rocking her brand- new baby. she had a long day yesterday. reporter: a peaceful moment well deserved for both of them after the rocky way little miss ania came into the world.


reporter: those are the screams of olivia in labor in the back seat of her friend's car thursday morning on the side of a new jersey highway. here's how the conversation went with her friend who was driving her to the hospital. we're not going to make it.


so you want me to pull over? yeah, pull over. reporter: a trooper showed up minutes after the friend called 911 and he helped take over with the car pulled over on i-78 in summit. just breathe, it'salmost over.


a sigh of relief. reporter: a little while later they were reunited at st. barnabas hospital in living storm able to laugh how a planned water birth turned into a roadside delivery. congratulations to the mom and trooper.


jessica layton, cbs 2 news. cool under pressure. olivia says the baby is even more of a blessing because she was born on the 10th anniversary of her grandmother's death making it more bearable for the family. kudos to her friend.
