quite the spectacle. my daughter called 911 and someone called the police department. the police department said they don't think they can do anything and she will have to swim to shore. reporter: knowing the deer would
get exhausted and die, these men acted fast. the deer was stuck in the water, a baby deer with noticeable wounds. we just we just wanted to get the deer out of the water. reporter: this evansville man jumped in the water with his
life jacket on, strapped in the deer and pulled it to safety all while keeping a sense of humor. it feels good to see the city coming together in the midst of something like this, to come together and save wildlife, it's a lot of animals who won't be able to make it through the
slot. we were able to help an animal and that feels pretty good. reporter: not knowing what to do with the deer, they decided to keep hold of it, drive it out of town and let it free. to see waterloo coming together, it's a beautiful thing
